In 2018 WJ will be supporting No Gain No Pain (NGNPUK) who are a small local charity raising money for syringe drivers to be used in our local communities.

A syringe driver is a small computerised machine that can be programmed to give patients a measured dose of pain relief and other drugs during palliative care.  The machines can help patients remain at home with loved ones instead of going into hospital or a hospice.

They cost £1100 each. NGNPUK have donated an extra 39 machines over the last two years and these have been in constant use since they were handed over.  One machine can help so many patients over its working lifetime.

You can find out more about us at or

04/11/2017 Annual General Meeting

The clubs next AGM, as previously advised, will be held on Tuesday 21st November at the Ploughman Public House, starting at 9pm

The committee have received one proposal for discussion which is as follows:

It is proposed that Werrington Joggers amend the wording and intention of its constitution to "welcome runners to the club who have an interest and commitment to running for enjoyment, fitness and social community; and are able to comfortably run 3 miles distance."

This would be a fundamental change in our constitution, currently we welcome anyone, regardless of their current ability and set no minimum standard, either in terms of distance or time a person can run comfortably for.

The Committee believes that such a change should be made by the members, not the committee, and therefore the committee has no colective view and committee members will express their own personal view at the AGM, should they wish to.

I therefore hope you will now make an extra effort to attend the AGM on 21st November. This is your club and its for you to decide the parameters in which the club is managed going forward.

If any one has any questions before the AGM please speak to me, I should remind members that your 2017/18 membership must be paid for you to attend the AGM and only full members (not social members) are entitled to speak or vote on any motion

Tim Cook, Chairman.

07/09/2017 Petition re Rhubarb Bridge

Dear Member,

As you may know, the City Council intends to replace the bridge over/under the Soke Parkway at the Brotherhoods roundabout with pedestrian lights on the slip roads. Many of us run that way in the dark evenings, and some cycle that route. This plan will make the journey more difficult, slow and dangerous. If you wish to make your feelings felt on this there is a new petition on Rhubarb bridge plans.

Your committee feel that many individuals will carry more weight than the club making a group complaint.

07/09/2017 Sunday Run from Elton 10/9

Message from Dan re this week's Sunday run:

Just a quick one for your diaries - this Sunday's 'cake' run on 10th Sept at 09:00am from Elton will be 11 miles (predominantly off-road) taking in 4-5 Northamptonshire villages (with water + jelly baby stop at the top of a castle!). A shorter 6 mile option is available (still taking in the half time refreshments) so ideal for those new to Sunday runs or wanting to give it a go. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be a plenty at the end. Please meet opposite the Crown Inn Pub on Duck Street PE8 6RQ. Plenty of parking round the green. Look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

14/02/2017 Junior Club Championships

Standings after race 1 are now available.

09/02/2017 Bourne Frostbite

"What a great race today in the woods despite the mist and murk. Thanks to Peter and the team at Bourne for letting us loose on their mud.

Hunts AC again took top spot in the senior race with BRJ taking 1st in the junior race. There were 181 juniors out today (one or two loosing shoes) with 430 in the senior race. Some of your runners may notice that their finishing positions are 1 or 2 lower than the tokens given to them. This is due to a couple incidents on the finish line one of which involved one of the female runners being hit and knocked to the ground requiring attention from the first aid team. I also understand that there was today another runner who was not wearing club colours but a T-Shirt from a mud obstacle race. Unfortunately, the runner was not challenged and therefore escaped being disqualified. Please will you ensure that all runners are aware of the rules and abide by them.

The next race is on 12th March at Jubilee Park, Huntingdon. "

Dave Richmond, Frostbite Chairman.
