Werrington Joggers welcomes everyone with an interest in running regardless of age or ability, culture or creed, male or female. Whether individuals are competitive, or simply want to run as a means of staying fit and healthy, they are equally welcome at Werrington Joggers.
The Club was originally founded in September 1984 by seven local runners, but now has a junior and senior membership which has grown to in excess of 300.
Werrington Joggers became a registered charity in July 2010 - Charity Reg Nr 1136937.
The club meets every Tuesday evening (Juniors 18:00-19:00, Seniors 18:45 for 19:00) at the Werrington Sports Centre, and after a brief communal warm up we split into groups for runs of various distances and speeds. There will always be a group to suit your speed. If you are completely new to running the club has a number of qualified coaches, and they will be happy to help and advise you. Each week nominated committee members are responsible for new runners, so on your first visit just make yourself known to a Werrington Jogger, and they will introduce you to the nominated new runner representative.
Each Thursday evening a small nucleus of the club also meets on the grass next to the Werrington Sports Centre for speed training. Full details of this should be obtained on the previous Tuesday evening.
Sunday morning long runs are also a feature of the club, and details are printed on newsletter available on the clubs notice board at the Werrington Sports Centre, from the club secretary or here on the web site.
I sincerely hope that you do decide to join Werrington Joggers and that your membership helps you to achieve your running ambitions and goals. Should you require any further information or have any questions, then please do not hesitate to come and see me, or indeed any member of the committee, on a Tuesday evening.
Good luck with your running.
TIM COOK, CLUB CHAIRMAN
