18/07/2025 Guestimate Results

The results of Tuesday night's Guestimate race are now available on the Seniors section of the website.

02/07/2025 Guesstimate 5m charity event - Tuesday 15 July

Our annual charity fund raising event, the Werrington Joggers 5m Guesstimate, will be held this year on Tuesday 15th July. The route is the usual accurately measured 5-mile loop around Peakirk and Glinton and you have to guess how long it will take you to complete the distance.

All watches, Garmin's, or other timing devices are banned, and the winner is not the first across the line, but the person who is closest to their guesstimate time. (It’s therefore a run not a race!!) They will hold the Sandra Cooper Cup for 12 months.

As in previous years invitations have been sent to our friends at the other GPAN clubs to join us.

Entry is free, but we organise the event as part of our charity fund raising year and therefore donations are much appreciated.

Registration and number collection will start from 18.30 at the Werrington Sports Centre and the run will start at 19.15, just along from the centre.

Following the closure of the Ploughman Public House the results and prize winners will now be announced at the Lime Tree Public House on Paston Lane PE4 6HA which has kindly given use of their function room. It is hoped that we will also have hot dogs and burgers for sale along with your post run beer. Pre orders can be made and paid for at race registration.

If you are not running but would be willing to help, we'd be very grateful for marshals or help with time keeping and number recording. Please email Tim Cook (tim30dstj@aol.com) or see me or Tim on Tuesday evening.

02/07/2025 3K/5K event Wednesday 9 July - briefing and parking instructions

Marshals

Thank you for giving up your time to marshal our 3K/ 5K event on Wednesday 9 July: we are very grateful for the support.

  • Please be at the Werrington Sports Centre from 17:30  for your marshal briefing, last roll call 1800
  • Everyone who has volunteered will be placed at a specific position out on the course.
  • Your briefing may take place in the Drama Studio at WSC which can get very noisy -  so we would be grateful if people can keep quiet while the briefings are being delivered - whilst we will endeavour to be speedy, nothing will be rushed. So if there is a queue in the studio, your patience and cooperation would be appreciated.

 Marshals and WJ runners

Parking

Olympus House ( the building before the Tesco garage on Staniland Way) PE1 6NA,  have kindly agreed that we can use their main car park outside their building, as well as the overflow car park on the bottom right-hand side of their building (around 50 spaces).

The extra car parks will be available from 5:30pm to approximately 9:00pm, giving us a total of around 110 spaces

Marshals and WJ runners please use this car park, which will allow more spaces at the Tesco car park for other 3K/ 5K entrants.

Junior Duke of Edinburgh

Do you enjoy running? Would you like to join a sports club? Are you worried about keeping fit ?  Are you looking for a way to complete your Duke of Edinburgh Physical?

Werrington Joggers run a Junior Section for children aged 9-16. We meet on Tuesday evenings between 6pm – 7pm at the Werrington Sports Centre.

Your children will receive instruction from qualified coaches, become part of a growing running community within Peterborough and have access to road, cross country and track events.

Annual subscription is only £15 and will be refunded if after 2 weeks your child does not wish to continue.

Induction evenings take place regularly during the year and the next induction dates can be found on the Junior Introduction page here

During the induction we will cover a range of topics such as when to eat, injuries, clothing, competition and behaviour.

We hope you will consider joining our friendly local club and we look forward to seeing you and your children at our next induction.

For any further information prior to the next Induction evening please contact either Tim Cook (07793 906746) or Louise Richardson (07732 407070) otherwise you are most welcome to simply turn up with your child on the next date.

Sunday Runs

We regularly meet on a Sunday for a cross country run. These are social events and can vary between 6 and 12 miles, often with alternative shorter routes. Very often muddy - trail shoes are recommended if you have any - and run from local village halls where possible.

Sunday Run - Nassington

Many Sunday Runs have more than one distance alternative and can vary in terrain. Please see the Diary for more details of times, locations and formats. Sunday Runs are an excellent way to get to know your fellow runners and our tradition of "looping back" to keep groups together ensures that no-one is left running on their own or will get lost. Please support the run hosts who plan and arrange the runs and spend a Sunday morning in the fresh air on some of our local countryside routes.

The club diary has details of the meeting points and start times of the runs. Start times are prompt. The runs have a guide to distance and difficulty.

For Garmin users, a catalogue of the sunday run routes is being steadily built up on the Sunday Run Routes page.

Parkrun

Many members take part in the regular Peterborough parkrun and a list of the latest results for the consolidated Werrington Joggers members can be found by clicking here. This is a measured 5km time trial open to the general public every Saturday morning at Ferry Meadows country park at 9am, and elsewhere as an unmeasured 5km run. these are not races and no entry fee is required but you must pre-register on the  web site.
